Andrea Doll has always had an interest in injustice fueled by her degrees in History and Political Science. During the FARC massacres in Colombia, she joined a Fellowship of Reconciliation group to stand as a witness to what was occurring. Since then she has also spent time in Mexico and Guatemala working with the people there. Andrea has worked with a women's co-op in Guatemala. As she told her story to host jim, jim stopped the recording to bring Dave McConnell into the conversation. Dave was in Ocosingo, Chiapas, Mexico attending a friend's wedding when the Zapatistas there with wooden weapons, if any, were overrun and killed by the Mexican Army. He witnessed the slayings. Andrea and Dave then continued together to hold a conversation about the similarities in what they witnessed. As Andrea stated, "Nothing happens in Guatemala that you can't trace back to the US." They both commented about how multinationals are destroying local economies in those areas for their own benefit. Obviously both were greatly moved and continue to be concerned about happenings in those areas.
