A show in two parts, September 26 and October 3, 2018
In this two part series the effects of Chinese tariffs in Skagit county and beyond are discussed by a panel of three: Don McMoran, Director of the Washington State University Skagit County Extension; Sean Connell, director of the Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County, (EDASC), as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the Washington State China Relations Council; and Rich Austin, a decades' long union activist and current president of the Pacific Coast International Longshore and Warehouse Union Pensioners Association, (ILWU).
In the first segment, Don McMoran talks about farming in Skagit County, including the possible effects of new tariffs, and then we hear the first half of Sean Connell's explanations of proposed tariffs both locally and in Washington State in relation to China.
During the second segment we return to Sean Connell's explanations of proposed tariffs followed by Rich Austin providing background and history of free trade agreements in general.
